Ketamine Infusion Therapy
Transforming Mental Health with Innovative Care
Welcome to Delve Psychiatry, Las Vegas's premier mental health clinic specializing in cutting-edge treatments like Ketamine Infusion Therapy. Our mission is to provide unparalleled care, helping our patients overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives.
What is Ketamine Therapy?
Ketamine is a depression treatment that uses low doses of the drug to alleviate symptoms of severe depression, particularly in cases where other treatments have failed. Unlike traditional antidepressants, which can take weeks to work, ketamine often provides rapid relief, sometimes within hours.
How Does Ketamine Work?
Ketamine helps treat depression by changing how certain chemicals in the brain work. One of these chemicals is called glutamate, which affects mood and how brain cells connect with each other. By altering glutamate's activity, ketamine can quickly improve mood and reduce depression symptoms. It also helps the brain form new connections, which can support better mental health.
Is Ketamine Right For You?
You may be a candidate for Ketamine if you have:
Been diagnosed with major depression
Tried antidepressants without success
Tried psychotherapy
Experienced symptoms or side effects that have interfered with your relationships, leisure activities, or career
How It Works
Ketamine Experience
When you come into our office for ketamine treatment, you will relax in our comfortable space. Ketamine is administered slowly through an IV over the course of one hour under the monitoring of our clinical team. You should be able to resume daily activities the day after treatment. Ketamine is typically administered in six treatments.
Why Ketamine Is Different at Delve Psychiatry
Dr. Reitano completed his advanced training at the Ketamine Research Institute with a specialty in ketamine infusion therapy for depression. By administering ketamine through an IV, our team is able to customize treatment based on each patient’s metabolism, medications, and medical history. This individualized treatment is what makes us unique among most practices.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Ketamine Infusion Therapy is an advanced mental health treatment that uses low dose ketamine delivered through an intravenous infusion in a monitored medical setting. Originally used as an anesthetic, ketamine is now recognized for its potential to help people with severe and persistent mood symptoms, especially when more traditional treatments have not provided enough relief.
-
Ketamine works differently than many standard psychiatric medications. Rather than primarily targeting serotonin or dopamine, it acts on the brain’s glutamate system, which is closely tied to mood regulation, learning, and neural connectivity. By influencing glutamate pathways, ketamine may promote neuroplasticity, helping the brain form new connections and develop healthier patterns over time.
-
A good candidate for ketamine therapy is often someone who has been diagnosed with major depression or another serious mood related condition and has not experienced meaningful improvement with psychotherapy, antidepressants, or other conventional treatment approaches. At Delve Psychiatry, every patient first completes a detailed evaluation so the team can determine whether ketamine is a safe and appropriate option based on symptoms, medical history, and previous treatment experiences.
-
At Delve Psychiatry, ketamine is primarily used for treatment resistant depression, but it is also being evaluated and explored in connection with other conditions that may involve severe mood symptoms, including anxiety related conditions and PTSD. Its ability to support emotional processing and disrupt entrenched patterns can make it an important option for people whose symptoms have remained difficult to treat.
-
One of the most notable aspects of ketamine therapy is that it can work faster than many traditional antidepressants. While standard medications may take weeks or longer to show noticeable changes, some patients report improvement within hours or days after treatment. This faster response can be especially meaningful for individuals dealing with severe and persistent symptoms.
-
During a ketamine infusion session at Delve Psychiatry, the medication is administered slowly through an IV over the course of about one hour. Patients relax in a calm treatment environment while the team carefully monitors vital signs, comfort, and overall response throughout the infusion. Many people describe feeling calmer, more introspective, or gently detached during the session, and most are able to return to usual activities the next day.
-
Many ketamine treatment plans begin with a structured series of infusions over the course of a couple of weeks, and six sessions is a common starting framework. Each treatment builds on the last, and the exact schedule may be adjusted based on the individual’s response, treatment goals, and clinical history. Delve emphasizes a personalized approach rather than using the same protocol for every patient.
-
Ketamine therapy is generally well tolerated when administered in a carefully monitored setting, but some people do experience temporary dissociative effects during treatment. These may include a sense of detachment, altered perception, or emotional distance while the infusion is taking place. Delve Psychiatry prioritizes safety and monitoring throughout each session, and the treatment plan is adjusted thoughtfully based on the patient’s needs, medications, and medical history.
-
At this time, Ketamine Infusion Therapy is not covered by insurance. However, the team works to provide patients with clear information about pricing, treatment planning, and available options so they can make informed decisions without unnecessary confusion. Our practice also accepts many major insurance plans for other services, including psychotherapy, medication management, and TMS therapy.
-
Patients choose Delve Psychiatry because of the practice’s combination of advanced treatment options, personalized care, and compassionate support. Led by Dr. John Reitano, who has advanced training in ketamine treatment, Delve emphasizes thorough evaluations, individualized dosing, close monitoring, and ongoing guidance throughout the process.
